Last season was characterised by a summer long drought throughout Western and Northern Iceland. Thankfully things are looking more hopeful for the coming season. Experts had predicted fewer catches in 2019 due to low spawning numbers in 2014. That combined with the low water-levels throughout the summer led to the low number of catches during the 2019 season. For 2020 fishing experts have predicted a much better catching season based on historic spawning measurements.
Spring of 2019 was warm and offered plenty of feed for the fry. The smolt had excellent conditions and returned to the sea in large quantities. In this case higher ocean temperatures should be beneficial to the smolt return rate.
So far this winter we have enjoyed a copious amount of snowfall and ice accumulation in the highlands and moors, like Holtavörduheidi, that feed the river. This reserve should provide ample water throughout the summer months. Therefore, we expect a good angling summer and we hope to see a catch that will equal or surpass the average of recent years. We are looking forward to a wonderful and bountiful summer season.

Three rods sold together in higher section of the river. Fishing hut in Skógarnef included with three bedrooms with 6 beds made up and towels included. WC with shower, open plan with kitchen, dining and living area, barbeque on the porch. Cleaning following stay included.

Munaðarnes
In this area three rods sold together at the price of two. No housing or board. One day angling only from morning till night with hiatus between 13:00 and 16:00 o’Clock. A few rods are available in the first half of June.
