This morning the angling season in Iceland began with the opening of Norðurá.
Following a winter of building a new guest wing and renovating the old living-area the lodge at Norðurá has much improved accommodation for anglers and other guest by the river.
The new building is modern. The interior design is unique and the cozy atmosphere of the old parts are maintained, materials and colors harmonize the various parts of the building.
Well wishers have brought gifts of paintings and books that will be on display.
Jón Ásgeir Sigurvinsson blessed the building. Guðrún Sigurjónsdóttir chairman of Norðurá Angling Association handed the keys to the house to Einar Sigfússon. He again offered them to Hákon Örvarsson chef and bronze winner of Bocuse d’Or award and operator of the lodge.
This year Gylfi Þór Sigurðsson opened the river. He is a key player for the Icelandic National Football team as well as being a stand-out performer for Swansea.
