Angling in Norðurá at the beginning of summer has had an interesting start.
Last week 79 salmon were caught between the dates of June 21st till 24th, the largest one being 94 cm and 8.4 kg. All were of a fresh run. The river is teaming with silver-bright ocean fresh and migrating salmon in peak condition.
The migration has progressed to the point that many salmon are distributed throughout the river as far upstream as the bridge Króksbrú where one salmon has been caught already.
There was a downpour of rain on Sunday night and the river flooded. Since then the river has receded and we can expect good fishing from now on.
High-tide occurs on June 29th which will bring with it a fresh run of new fish to the river.
On the evening of June 27th the overall catch reached 350 salmon so we've had a robust start to the season.
